Responsibilities:
· Provide a technical leadership role as QCLDM champion for category suppliers and assure technical development to adequately meet category and product source plans. Support Global Sourcing Strategy and provide technical leadership in new supplier selection.
· Provide leadership in resolution of quality problems associated with the purchased materials, and logistics and engineering issues. Participates in CPI and warranty cost recovery related to supplier quality.
· Leads a multi-functional team in various certification initiatives. Includes, but not exclusive to, ISO/QS/TS registration of supplier certification and/or re-certification ISO, QS, TC certification. Supports and participates in 6 Sigma initiatives with facilities, teams, and suppliers.
· Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of technological developments and trends for guidance of commodity teams in advancements of design, quality, and manufacturing. Must have a thorough working knowledge of quality initiatives to ensure that PPAPs/NJSU are completed and approved before new parts are delivered.
· Participate in the development of Supplier metrics and the monthly gathering and distribution of measurements. Resolve problems between supplier and plants, suppliers and engineering personnel, and between facilities.
Qualifications:
· Requires an engineering or manufacturing background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies for Caterpillar Products.
· The industrial knowledge in machining, heat treatment, and fabrication fields are highly preferable.
· Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures is required.
· Bachelor's degree - or equivalent experience, preferably in engineering. In addition, three to five years of job-related experience is required
· Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative working relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar
· Solid ability to use and demonstrate statistical and problem solving tools is required
· Tools and Techniques of 6 Sigma methodology are requirements and will be attained through completion of Black Belt training following entry into this position
· Good spoken and written English is required.
